Urgent call for Canada to act on Bill C-73 at COP16

At COP16, Ecojustice, Greenpeace Canada, and other environmental groups urged Canada’s Parliament to pass Bill C-73, the Nature Accountability Act, which has stalled since its introduction.

This bill would hold Canada accountable to its biodiversity commitments under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, a key component of international efforts to protect nature by 2030. Advocates emphasize that the biodiversity crisis demands urgent action, and with strong public backing, they are pushing for Parliament to advance the bill to ensure effective biodiversity protections and Indigenous rights alignment.
