Announcing Our New Strategic Advisory Board

We are thrilled to introduce our newly appointed Strategic Advisory Board (SAB) at the Centre for Ecosystem Management (CEM). This esteemed board comprises experts from diverse backgrounds, all committed to advancing ecosystem management within the Great Lakes basin.

Purpose and Vision

The CEM’s mission is to understand and sustain the ecological interactions and processes necessary for the health of the Great Lakes ecosystem. Our SAB plays a pivotal role in shaping our research, teaching, and outreach activities. Their insights guide our strategic decisions, ensuring that our efforts align with the basin’s unique challenges and opportunities.

Meet Our Distinguished Board Members

Our SAB consists of accomplished individuals from a variety of government agencies, post-secondary institutions, and First Nations communities who bring to the role a wealth of knowledge and experience. Let’s introduce them:

  • Trisha Westman, Director, Science & Research Branch (MNR)

  • Dave Brown, Director of Fish & Wildlife (MNR)

  • Hilary Oakman, Acting Regional Director of Aquatic Ecosystems (DFO)

  • Kim Houston, Acting Regional Director of Science (DFO)

  • Ryan Lauzon, Program Supervisor of Fisheries Management (Saugeen Ojibway Nation)

  • Dr. Jim Bence, Emeritus Faculty (Quantitative Fisheries Center at Michigan State University)

  • Dr. Mazyar Fallah, Dean of the College of Biological Sciences (University of Guelph)
